Some classic 70s soul-funk for your Friday.
This one is probably most famous for being sampled in the Geto Boys tune “My Minds Playing Tricks on Me,” which is most likely why this song caught my ear.
That actually happens to me a lot with old school hip-hop tunes. I seek out the songs they sample and end up enjoying those even more than the tunes they’re sampled in. Might have to post a few more of those later.

My Favorite Music of 2010, Part 1: Albums
I’ve been blogging on and off for a good 4+ years with music being one of my main topics, yet I’ve never really jumped on the wagon for the “best of the year” listing ritual. I’m not really sure why. Maybe I never found the lists all that compelling or maybe I just wasn’t all that into the process of it.
But for some reason that I can’t really pinpoint, this year I felt the need to look back at 2010 and put together a list of my favorite music. I guess there was a lot of great music that came out last year, or maybe it’s that I’m really starting to feel the urge to blog about music again. Whatever the reason, I’ve officially decided to jump into the list game, albeit in my own way (without any specific numbers or hierarchy).

2010: My Year in Concerts
I see a lot of concerts each year, but I’ve never really taken the time to try to catalog them into one space. So I thought I’d attempt to list all of the shows I saw in 2010 — and to make it fun — include some reviews, photos, videos, etc.. from a bunch of them.
